The Role of a Doula
Refers to someone who helps a woman during pregnancy, and/or childbirth. A doula’s duty is to provide a continuous source of comfort, encouragement and support (both emotional and physical).
What Kind Of Help Can A Diabetes Doula Provide?
Supporting you on your diabetes journey, these sessions typically answer questions like:
- What type of doctor do I need?
- What questions should I be asking my doctor?
- What books and other resources can help me understand?
- How do I deal with my insurance?
- Outside of the medications, my doctor has prescribed, do I need other special supplies?
- Where can I get all my supplies?
How Does A Diabetes Doula Session Work?
An online live session will be conducted via Zoom videoconferencing software. It’s user-friendly and works on computer, smartphone and/or tablet. You will be able to talk to each other face to face with your Doula.

After meeting with your doula, you should feel more grounded and optimistic about being pregnant with diabetes. Diabetes is not easy, but it is certainly manageable, and our doula session will show you how that is possible.
About DiapointME
DiapointMe was founded by Pamela Durant, the mother of a child with Type 1 Diabetes. Her son was diagnosed in 2009 at only 20 months old. DiapointMe is the place for people touched by diabetes.
