Is Your Child Ready to Combat Winter Dermatitis?
Some children whose eczema is easily controlled with lotions and creams during the warmer months may experience an acute worsening of their dermatitis in the winter, only partially relieved by steroid creams. Fortunately, there may be hope for these children.
A new study out of Massachusetts General Hospital suggests that supplementation with Vitamin D drops may improve these symptoms dramatically. This research suggests that these children may be Vitamin D deficient, leading to their worsening eczema. So if your child suffers from severe eczema in the winter months, talk to your pediatrician to see if Vitamin D supplementation is right for your child.
