Technology will likely be an unavoidable part of our children’s lives, so how can parents use technology in a positive way to help their children learn?

First and foremost, it’s important to keep in mind that the best way to stimulate a child’s language development is by interacting in conversation with others. A child who frequently sits alone passively using technology is not being engaged in language-learning interactions and therefore is not likely to build language and literacy skills. When your child is using technology, what matters most is that you spend time being actively engaged with him or her.
